TIER 1 OVERVIEW
The first multi-specialty institute of its kind in the region, Tier 1 Orthopedic and Neurosurgical Institute came about when eight physicians from three separate specialties decided to join to offer their award-winning care in one state-of-the-art facility.
Now patients seeking exceptional orthopedic, neurosurgical and non-surgical spine and sports injury care have little reason to look to larger cities for this level of treatment because it's all available in one convenient location close to home, with no referrals required.
At Tier 1, our mission is to put the needs of our patients first by offering the highest level of care, comprehensive treatment options, one-stop convenience, a friendly staff and a comfortable atmosphere. We look forward to serving you.

Tier 1 Orthopedic has board-certified orthopedic surgeons, each one with mature judgment, successful experience and high qualifications. Tier 1 Neurosurgery brings state-of-the-art neurosurgical techniques to the Upper Cumberland and surrounding areas for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders affecting the brain, carotid artery, spinal cord and nervous system, as well as degenerative spine conditions.
SPINE AND SPORTS
Welcome to Tier 1 Spine and Sports, the practice of Dr. J. Keith Nichols, a physiatrist who is board certified in sports medicine and rehabilitation. Physiatrists (\fi-zē-ˈa-trists\) are physicians who specialize in physical medicine and rehabilitation. The word physiatry comes from the Greek words physikos, which means "physical," and iatreia, which means "the art of healing." Physiatrists use physical interventions as well as therapeutic medicinal treatments to address the whole person and restore patients to a better quality of life.
