Originally from South Alabama, Dr. McKinney graduated from Auburn University in 1977. He then received his medical degree from the University of Alabama, Birmingham, in 1981. At Wilford Hall United States Air Force Medical Center on Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, Dr. McKinney completed his internship in general surgery in 1981 and his residency in orthopedics in 1986.

 

Dr. McKinney was on active duty with the United States Air Force from 1981 until 1992. In 1992, he began practicing orthopedic surgery in Cookeville, Tennessee. He is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

 

At Tier 1 Orthopedic and Neurosurgical Institute, Dr. McKinney practices general orthopedic surgery with a special interest in adult reconstruction of the knees and hips. He also does routine hand surgery and knee arthroscopy.

 

Dr. McKinney is married with two children. He is active in many clubs and organizations in Cookeville.
